Email to SMS - Guidelines

To send a text through your email application, please use the following guidelines:

FEATURE

DESCRIPTION

Email From Field

Emails must be sent from your registered Txtlocal email address. If you need to send from other email addresses simply add "email aliases" in your Account Settings.

To & Cc Fields

In order to send a text, the recipient’s email address needs to be inserted using the following format:

MobileNumber@txtlocal.co.uk

For instance:
07741112222@txtlocal.co.uk

Multiple recipients can be added in both the TO and CC fields of your email application.

Subject Field
(Optional)

All texts will arrive addressed with your Default Sender Name in your Account Settings.

If you wish to change this, either change your Default Sender Name or use sender= in the subject line to send your messages from any 11 character name or up to 14 digit telephone number.

For instance,  sender=MyCompany or sender=448450093180

Message

You can type a message up to 612 characters. At the end of the message add:
##

Anything after the ## will not be sent.

Please remember to use ## to ensure you don’t send your signature, any company email disclaimers or virus wording.

You are billed for the following message lengths:

0 - 160 = 1 credit
161 - 306 = 2 credits
307- 459 = 3 credits
460 - 612 = 4 credits

Bulk Recipients Method 1

In addition to placing bulk recipients in the TO and CC lines of the email, you can also place them after the ## terminator. For example:

Don't forget the meeting at 12:30pm.##
07740101097@txtlocal.co.uk
07740101096@txtlocal.co.uk
07740101095@txtlocal.co.uk

As with any message, the text after the ## will not be sent to the handset, but a copy of the text will be sent to all the listed numbers.

Bulk Recipients Method 2

You can even forward an email to a pre created Txtlocal.com group!

You can find the ID of a group by clicking on "View Group ID" - a link towards the bottom of your Txtlocal Group Manager.

You can then trigger a message to a Txtlocal group by sending an email to anything@txtlocal.co.uk Subject:GROUP=xxxxx .. and the email will be forwarded to the group whatever the size!

Finally, in order to ensure that the message is sent, please ensure that the email address you are sending from is the same as the one you use to log into your Online SMS account.

If you wish to send from an alternate email address (or add addresses for your whole company), simply add them in your online Account Settings page
